After reading the proclamation from President Obama it made me think a lot about 9/11 and the fifteen years after it. 9/11 didn't directly impact me and I'm thankful for that but it did affect the families of over 3,000 people lost that day. At my house we hung our flag at half staff and continued throughout the day. I read something somewhere that said this year is the first year that 9/11 will be in high school history books. 9/11 use to be a much bigger deal years ago. We would have presentations and assemblies about it and would watch videos of that day. Now all we get is a 5 minute speech. This is a shame because it was one of America's biggest events and it united all of us here in America and all of the world too. 9/11 should be more than it is today. 9/11 is now a national day of remembrance but everyday should be a day to remember those who gave their lives on that dark day fifteen years ago.
